Reug Reug appealing TKO loss to Grishenko at ONEonTNT IV

VM StaffReug Reug appealing unusual TKO loss to Kirill Grishenko suffered at ONEonTNT IV on April 28.
Viral sensation and Senegalese wrestler Reug Reug is appealing the TKO loss, claiming the strike came after the bell. Bulgarian Grishenko threw a right hand which seemed to connect lightly with the Senegalese who went down and stayed down. After a few minutes of confusion, referee Olivier Coste awarded the victory to Grishenko via TKO. Reug Reug had been fading badly during the fight, struggling with cardio. It appeared as though he had tried to con the referee to get a win in a fight he was losing.
ONE commentator Michael Schiavello tweeted that both men threw punches at the same time. The only difference being that one hit and one missed. Reug Reug appeared to TKO himself, and it is hard to see how his appeal could be successful. ONE Championship has a history of overturning results. Notably, Eddie Alvarez’s recent defeat by DQ was overturned to a no contest. Previously, a defeat for Giorgio Petrosyan against Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy was also overturned.
With no commission overseeing the fights, ONE themselves are free to make the decision. Despite Reug Reug’s viral fame, hopefully sense wins and the result stands.
