Jacare Souza removed from UFC rankings pool, release pending?
By
VM StaffAn eerie cloud looms today for fan favourite Jacare Souza as he has seemingly been removed from the UFC rankings pool. The discovery was made by eagle eyed Sherdog writer Tom Feely who made his find public on his personal Twitter account.
Whilst there has been no official announcement from Souza and his team or even the UFC, the situation is eerily similar to the likes of Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem. Both heavyweights were removed from the UFC rankings and shortly after released from their contracts.
Jacare Souza was last seen in action at UFC 262 where he suffered a broken humerus at the hands of Andre Muniz in the first round, spelling the Brazilians fourth consecutive defeat and also 6 months on the sidelines due to injury.
Times are tough within the sport amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the UFC have been actively trimming their roster since the start of 2021. Only a week ago the promotion released nine fighters and with big names like Alistair Overeem and Junior Dos Santos already gone, its hard to be optimistic for the fan-favourite middleweight.
What do you think about the situation? Is Jacare as good as gone or are we all jumping the gun? Let us know in the comments section below!
Keep it with VMTV for updates as they come.
