Dan Hardy: “The best offer right now looks like boxing”

UK MMA legend Dan Hardy is keen on returning to action and seems to be eyeing a boxing debut as opposed to an MMA bout.

”The Outlaw” recently requested and secured a release from his UFC contract and has since been looking for a fight. Speaking on the “Real Quick with Mike Swick podcast“, Hardy teased fans with some potential fight news and gave an indication as to when his inevitable return to combat sports would be:

“I’ve had a few people message me and ask me to see if I’m interested in doing this and that, but the best offer right now looks like boxing. I might look at doing a boxing match towards the end of the year and then maybe see where MMA is next year, but I’d like to have another MMA fight.”

Boxing is the sport everybody wants to compete in at the minute and it’s obvious as to why. YouTuber Jake Paul recently fought Ben Askren on Triller, a fight in which Askren reportedly made $500,000 which if true is a long way away from the salary that UFC paid him. Oscar De La Hoya also was recently in talks to have a boxing bout with Georges St. Pierre which fell through due to reports Dana White blocked the potential fight from happening.

Fans last saw Dan Hardy in action back in 2012 when he defeated Amir Sadollah in his hometown of Nottingham. Not long after the bout Hardy was diagnosed with a heart condition known as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which forced him to the side-lines as he sought medical advice. During his time in the commentary booth for the UFC, “The Outlaw” has numerously hinted at a potential comeback fight but unfortunately nothing materialised.
