Dmitriy Sosnovskiy Arrested For Abduction and Extortion
By
VM StaffIt is often said that every fighter has a story. Unfortunately, what they don’t tell you is that some have stories you could never imagine. Undefeated MMA fighter Dmitriy Sosnovskiy has joined that list with one of the craziest arrests in MMA history. According to Russian media source tass.ru, Sosnovskiy was first arrested back in November of 2019.
Dmitriy Sosnovskiy had supposedly joined a group of four other men to commit these crimes. The group targeted a Russian businessman on the street and kidnapped him immediately. Reports stated that the five men threatened to kill the businessman several times. In addition, they told the businessan in order to leave he had to pay the ransom of 300,000 rubles. The businessman remained adamant he would not pay the money and ultimately ended up being choked unconscious. After the group momentarily left the room, the businessman managed to escape and get to authorities.
After originally being arrested in 2019, the 31-year old heavyweight MMA fighter was recently found guilty of all charges and sentenced to 8.5 years in a maximum-security prison. This is extremely disappointing to hear due to the potential he had in MMA. Nonetheless, Sosnovskiy’s career will end because of his own actions. We can all take this as an example to be careful in what kind of trouble we get into.
