GSP gives his prediction for Poirier vs McGregor III and Woodley vs Paul

Georges St. Pierre was interviewed recently on the Tristar Gym YouTube channel by his longtime friend and coach Faras Zahabi. GSP spoke frankly about the outcomes of both fights, some answers you can guess and some you may not.

Woodley versus Paul

There is some pressure on Tyron Woodley’s shoulders as he has now signed up to face Jake Paul. Of course, we know that Paul scored a first round knockout opposite Woodley’s teammate and friend, Ben Askren. Now it the former UFC Welterweight champions turn to fight the Youtube star in the squared ring. He has pulled out all the stops for this one, even enlisting the help of one Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

GSP gave his thoughts on the former UFC champions chances against the boxing great. Ben Askren took the former Disney channel star lightly and paid dearly. St. Pierre gave some background, as he has trained a lot with Freddie Roach and they still keep in touch:

“Jake Paul was training very hard and I know that Ben Askren(…) was with Freddie Roach for a week and was not doing great.”

So Woodley is doing it right, training with high level professionals in the months leading up to the fight. The last question Zahabi asked GSP was this: Does Jake Paul stand a chance against Tyron Woodley? The former Welterweight and Middleweight champion gave his honest answer.

“It’s a different sport. In MMA I would say no but in boxing he is much bigger than Tyron and also he (Jake Paul) trains very hard. I am not saying that’s what’s going to happen but I think he definitely can do it.”

Poirier versus McGregor III

Georges St. Pierre says that Conor McGregor will knock Dustin Poirier out in the second round. After all, he has made successful rebounds in hi career time and time again.

(Photographic evidence providing evidence that Poirier may be well and truly “fooked”)

“I think McGregor is very good in rematches and he’s going to have victory. I think he is probably going to win in the second round.”

Coach Firas Zahabi played a bit of devils advocate and sided with Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier on this one:

“At 155, I think McGregor’s power is not exactly what it used to be and he’s gotta do five rounds. I think Porier showed in fight number two he’s smart enough to take McGregor into the later rounds. And you know what? in round 1 he took a big left and he took it well, I think psychologically Poirier is a bit more ready to take that big left hand.”

GSP is another believer, in that Dustin Poirier is “fooked” or will McGregor be FAST, but not fast enough?
