Fedor Emelianenko interested in boxing match with Roy Jones Jr

After achieving legendary status in the cage, Fedor Emelianenko has expressed an interest in entering the boxing ring.

Speaking with BoxingScene, ”The Last Emperor” declared he would be interested in fighting boxing legend and former multi-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. Emelianenko is largely considered as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time and as such, refuses to entertain the idea of fighting internet personalities like Jake and Logan Paul. Instead opting for an opponent more fitting of his resume.

”I would be interested, I have already worked with Denis Lebedev (who beat Jones in 2011), with other guys [in boxing]. I have been boxing myself since 2000. So, yes, it would be interesting to have such a fight, but not with bloggers and singers, not with people from outside the world of sports. Roy Jones is a legend of world boxing, so of course, it would be interesting to do it with him.”

He then continued, ”He has such a track record, He will always be Roy Jones, although he will no longer have that crazy speed.”

Roy Jones Jr hasn’t competed professionaly since a 2018 decision victory over Scott Sigmon. Jones Jr has however fought Mike Tyson in an eight-round exhibition back in 2020 which ended in a split draw.

Fans last saw Fedor Emelianenko in action back in December 2019 at Bellator and RIZIN’s co-produced event against Quinton ”Rampage” Jackson. Fedor won the fight via first round knockout and would be inactive until just recently, as it was announced he will return at Bellator 269 in Moscow. No opponent has yet been confirmed.
