Paddy Pimblett reveals his new UFC contract pays LESS than previous Cage Warriors deal

Hometown hero Paddy Pimblett has this week revealed that his current fight contract with the UFC falls considerably short of the old deal offered during his time fighting for Cage Warriors.

The 22-year old from Huyton, Paddy ‘ The Baddy’ recently appeared on Michael Bisping’s ‘Believe You Me‘ podcast to talk about his career thus far. He began by explaining that he was first offered a UFC contract when he was 21. ‘The Baddy’ went on to reveal that the financial remunerations from Cage Warriors were actually HIGHER than that offered by the world renowned MMA brand, UFC.

“The first time when I got offered the UFC contract, I was only 21. I had just won the belt on Cage Warriors and they offered me a bumper new deal which I would have been stupid to turn down. That contract was given to me 5 years ago, and I got more money then, than the contract I’m getting now for the UFC.”

Pimblett was signed by the UFC earlier this year, and his debut in September is hotly anticipated. He went on to express his confidence in how far his striking has developed in the past few years saying “if Paddy of five years ago fought Paddy of today, he gets knocked out in the first round.”

However, confident though Pimblett may be, he still has a more than impressive obstacle standing in his path – 25 year old Brazilian BJJ black belt, Luigi Vendramini. With a professional fight record of 9-2-0, Vendramini poses a challenge the likes of which Paddy ‘The Baddy’ has yet to have faced in his time prior to UFC.

It has to be contested that if Paddy Pimblett pulls a win out of the bag over a seasoned veteran of the Octagon, the UFC may have to revise their contract and subsequent pay schemes if they are to hold onto such a promising prospect.
