Tyson Fury headed to the world of MMA?
By
VM StaffIt is an undeniable fact that when the day finally comes, Tyson Fury and his retirement from boxing will inevitably leave an unfillable void in not only the division, but the sport itself.
However, in a recent interview with Dan Hardy, Fury’s father – John – has disclosed that there may be a transition for the Gypsy King that will rock the combat sports world to it’s foundations. When asked how Tyson would fare in the world of MMA, Big John expressed no small amount of confidence in his son’s abilities; and further revealed a number of recent and promising training sessions with English MMA middleweight, Darren Till.
When further probed about these sessions, John revealed more promising signs for a change in disciplines for the current heavyweight boxing legend.
“He can use more than his hands, believe it or not. And he’s quick and light on his feet. I do believe that if a top MMA trainer took him on, he could do big things. Ask Darren Till, he’s done the work with him.”
When asked what could give Tyson the edge, John went on to say “he’s got a good forearm smash and all that kind of thing. The knees go up, the head goes in, the elbows. The rougher it gets for Tyson, the better he likes it.”
We all know that Fury is an incredibly talented boxer, his undefeated record (30-0-1) speaking for itself in that regard. That said, would this heavyweight behemoth have a wide enough variety of skills necessary to one day make the required impact against seasoned veterans such as Francis Ngannou or Ciryl Gane? That remains to be seen, and we will bring you more as we know it.
For now, the cart may be coming before the horse, as Tyson Fury still has a bout of epic proportions coming his way in the form of Deontay Wilder and the much anticipated finale to a trilogy the world is waiting for; and an equally as high profile fight with Anthony Joshua on the cards in the not distant future to be considered as well.
