Chris Duncan ready to earn UFC contract

The fifth edition of Dana White’s Contender Series 2021 goes down on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, starting at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Safe to say, Dana White has been extra generous this year, handing out 19 UFC contracts through four weeks. Week five will feature one of Scotland’s best chances for their first UFC champion, Chris Duncan. Before starting MMA, Duncan was a Shepard that often got in trouble. Nowadays, Duncan has evolved into a big-time prospect looking to earn his contract in the UFC.

Pro career

After going 8-1 as an amateur, Duncan was ready to turn pro. Duncan made his pro debut in 2018 for an English promotion named Unity Fighting Championship. The first fight was a submission victory, and two KO/TKO victories followed the same year. Holding a record of 3-0, Duncan signed with Bellator to get a step up in competition. Duncan continued to find success, going 3-0 in Bellator with 3 KO/TKOs. He picked up another win outside of Bellator and found himself with a 7-0 pro record, all seven wins by a finish. With his last fight being in October 2020, Duncan’s one-year layoff comes to an end this Tuesday.

Chris Duncan set to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series

Duncan will take on Manuel Gaxhja (7-0) in the co-main event. Unfortunately, Gaxhja missed weight by 4.5 pounds at the weigh-ins on Monday. Nevertheless, The fight will go on, and the mission remains the same for Duncan. Furthermore, Duncan has the chance to expose Gaxhja’s weakness for missing weight (injury or failed weight cut). Duncan comes out fast and powerful with the hopes of ending every fight. Consequently, there will be no surprise if Duncan gets a brutal finish to earn his UFC contract. Additionally, getting a UFC contract will only be the start for Duncan, as he looks to become the first Scottish UFC champion.
