Chuck Liddell files for divorce after domestic violence incident
By
VM StaffChuck Liddell, the former UFC Light Heavyweight champ, was the third name involved in domestic violence (the other two being Jon Jones and Luis Pena) in less than a month. The incident happened on Monday night at their home in Hidden Hills, with Liddell being arrested and stayed in the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station instead of paying the 20k bail.
The L.A Sheriffs department made this statement on the arrest: “Upon arrival deputies determined Chuck Liddell and his wife had been involved in a physical altercation. Mr. Liddell was arrested for domestic battery.”
According to TMZ, Liddell filed for divorce at an L.A courthouse last Friday. His request came after an altercation with his wife Heidi which turned violent.
Chuck gave his statement following the incident, where both parties were cited. The sheriffs told “The Iceman” that his wife was to be taken into custody so he volunteered to go in her place. Mrs. Liddell stayed home to look after their young child:
“I was the victim of the incident last night at our family home, as details of the case will reveal. The deputies informed me that my wife would be arrested as I did not respond to her assault while I sustained bruising and lacerations. I volunteered to go in her place. This was one of the many times I have tried to shield a family mental health issue from the public purview. It has become painfully apparent that this cannot continue, as our private life has now reached a public breaking point.”
UPDATE: Chuck Liddell has not been charge for the recently reported domestic violence incident. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has opted not to move forward with charges against Chuck Liddell or his estranged wife.
