Cédric Doumbé Dominates & Earns TKO In MMA Debut

Cédric Doumbé has officially introduced himself to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and ‘The Best’ may be yet to come. At SuperKombat Universe on Nov. 1, 2021, Doumbé blasted his way into the MMA scene just 4 minutes and 40 seconds into his debut, earning a TKO against his opponent, Arbi Emiev.

‘Le Meilleur’ dominated kickboxing at the highest level for the better part of five years. Capturing the GLORY welterweight title twice and racking up five title defenses. The 29-year-old was on a seven-fight win streak that included 6 KO/TKO’s. However, on Oct. 3 2021 Doumbé ended his commanding reign over Glory’s welterweight division.

The announcement came at an Empire Fight event in Paris, breaking the hearts of kickboxing fans across the globe. Though, in the same breath, he stated his ambitions to make the switch to MMA, a declaration that tickled every combat sports fan’s peach.

“Kickboxing is done, normally my next fight should be MMA.”

Fight fans were chomping at the bit to see what the Cameroon native would look like in an MMA setting, and they didn’t have to wait very long to see it. Just under one month after declaring the crossover, Cédric Doumbé strapped up the lighter gloves for the Romanian promotion Superkombat Fighting Championship. Taking to Instagram before the bout, Doumbé said,

“Tonight is the night…don’t miss it, don’t even blink because one round is too long for me.”

Doumbé’s prediction couldn’t have been more right as, after a beautiful step-in knee and a flurry of punches ending with an uppercut, Emiev ate canvas. From there the world-class kickboxer finished the Russian with strikes with just 20 seconds remaining in the first round. A massive warning sign to any fighter that plans to stand in front of “the Best”.

After just a few more bouts in smaller promotions, you better believe Doumbé will be courted by the likes of Chatri Sityodtong, Scott Coker, and Dana White. I, for one, can’t wait to see it.
