PFL Announces UK Play-Off Shows In Cardiff & London
By
VM StaffUK MMA fans will need to mark August 13th and 20th in their calendars as PFL finally announces it will arrive on UK shores later this year! All of the events will be shown live on Channel 4 following the promotions partnership with the broadcaster earlier this year.
The play-offs will take place at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on August 13th which will feature the Featherweight & Heavyweight, whilst London’s Copperbox Arena will see the women’s Lightweight and men’s Welterweight’s throw down. PFL also revealed they will be partnering with music and entertainment promoter Live Nation for the shows.
Speaking in a press release, CEO Peter Murray said: “We’re thrilled to announce our international partnership with Live Nation as the world’s top music and entertainment promoter makes its move into the world’s fastest growing sport,“
“MMA fans in the United Kingdom will experience PFL’s star fighters battle it out for a shot at the PFL World Championship and the $6 million dollar prize money.”
Fans can expect to see UK talent such as rising stars Stuart Austin and Simeon Powell alongside fan favourite Brendan Loughnane in action when PFL head over.
How do the Play-offs work?
The pathway to the 2022 PFL World Championships and $1 million purse that comes with it will begin with a field of 24 fighters across six divisions. Each of the three Playoff events will feature the top-four fighters across two weight divisions battling to earn a spot in the final – the biggest night in MMA – with no other sports league able to match the thrilling action in this win-and-advance, lose-and-go-home format.
The second half of the 2022 PFL Regular Season begins Friday, June 17 from OTE Arena at Atlantic Station in Atlanta, with additional events on June 24 and July 1.
