Chris Duncan set to make 2nd Contender Series appearance in 2 years
By
VM StaffThis coming Tuesday, “The Problem”, Chris Duncan will make his 2nd appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, as he takes on Longo and Weidman prodigy, Chris Campbell, in Week 2’s main event of the evening.
The Scotsman featured on last years’ Contender Series week 7 taking on Viacheslav Borshchev, where he was KO’d by a left hook in round 2. Before the KO, in round 1 Duncan was fighting behind his stiff solid jab and in Duncan fashion, wasn’t afraid of getting in a war. Since then, Chris Duncan has fought once on Ultimate Fight League 8, defeating Jonathan Carlos. In this time he signed a contract to fight with European promotion Cage Warriors, but didn’t even get a chance to compete before he was called up for another chance on this years Contender Series.
On the flip side, this will be Charlie Campbell’s first appearance on the exciting series and he’ll be conscious of making a perfect first impression. “The Cannibal” has only lost once in his three year professional career, still being a young fighter in the game. Despite being a relatively new face, the 27-year-old trains out of the extremely high level Longo and Weidman gym in New York City.
Campbell knew he wanted to compete on Dana White’s Contender series as after his last win over Guilherme dos Santos at CFFC, Campbell got on the mic and called for a shot on the series.
The expectation for this bout is that it’ll be an all out war as that is what both fighters bring in their fighting styles. Who do you think will earn a contract? Let us know in the comments.
