Brendan Loughnane defeats Chris Wade and goes one step closer to $1m

The stakes were extremely high in the co-main event of the evening, with Manchesters own, Brendan Loughnane taking on rival, Chris Wade. The Brit managed to make it one step closer to $1m after winning via decision.

Due to the anticipation in the air for this fight, both fighters came fast out the gates with the early exchanges going the way of Chris Wade. A few minutes into the very first round, Loughnane found himself on wobbly legs after Wade connected with a huge head-kick. The Mancunian did well to weather the storm and found himself back to his feet. Shortly after, the home country fighter connected with a head kick of his own subsequently followed by some nice one two’s.

At the beginning of round 2, Wade began to wear the damage and was stood waiting with his hands on his knees. The initial striking exchanges in round 2 were back and fourth with Loughnane firing a vicious low kick damaging the lead leg of Wade. Another beautiful one two from Brendan saw Wade start taking the back foot. Leg kicks became the theme of this fight with Wade landing some nice ones of his own. The fast hands of Loughnane began finding a way in and he did well to let Wade know his hands were still dangerous.

The heart of these two men, and the pure hatred for each-other led them into the third and final round. A big right hand within the first minute and a half wobbled Chris Wade, but the Brit stayed composed and patient. Loughnane began putting his stamp on the fight in the final round, exhibiting his extremely fast and powerful hands. Wade went back to his grappling roots and tried to put Loughnane against the fence, but ultimately it didn’t pay off. The final bell rang and unexpectedly the two shook hands.
