Kayla Harrison Struggles to outline any Pacheco improvements ahead of their Championship showdown

This past Saturday, Kayla Harrison once again showed why she’s the baddest woman on planet earth, submitting number 3 seed, Martina Jindrova in the very first round. On the other side of the bracket, old foe, Larissa Pacheco also scored herself an emphatic finish, KO’ing Olena Kolesnyk in round 1.

With the two now scheduled to meet inside the SmartCage for the third time, excitement for the bout is building, with many fans thinking this will be Harrison’s toughest test so far due to Pacheco’s style.

Despite that, sometimes silence speaks louder than words, and that was definitely the case when asked by VMTV at the PFL London Post Fight Scrum what improvements she thinks Pacheco has made since their last meeting, Kayla struggled for words. Eventually Kayla said with a smile on her face: “She looks very strong… very strong.” she then paused for more thought and continued: “…her hands look quick, she looks sharp, she looks great.”

Since the last time Kayla beat Pacheco in the $1 million championship fight, she has gone on to win it once more. Pacheco on the other-hand has gone 5 in a row, with all of the wins coming by way of knockout, exhibiting the danger she carries in her hands.

Of course, in the PFL the use of elbows is not allowed on the ground nor the feet. This part of the ruleset is something that has divided a lot of opinion between both fans and fighters, and it is something that hinders the wrestling heavy styles, as they rely a lot on their slicing elbows from top position.

As well as commenting on Pacheco’s improvements, or lack of, Kayla also took the chance to campaign how much she wants the PFL to allow elbows, saying: “…the second she throws that hand i’m shooting, I hope she does, and i’m going to say it again, we’ve fought twice already, we’ve shared eight rounds in the cage together I want the PFL to allow elbows, I think everyone should get on Twitter and say ‘PFL bring back the elbow’ and let’s make this a real MMA fight, let’s see what happens when it’s really the rules and she has no way to survive on the ground like she did last time.”

Harrison has the chance to make PFL history, becoming the only fighter to win the tournament on three separate occasions, with her and Lance Palmer currently sat on two a piece.

The trilogy between the two will take place on PFL 10: 2022 Championships, scheduled for November 25th with the venue and location to be announced. As always, UK fans can catch the event on Channel 4, or on Channel 4 Sport’s YouTube channel.
