Paddy Pimblett draws Jared Gordon at UFC 282

Rejoice UK fans, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett (19-3) will make his return at UFC 282 on December 10th at the T-Mobile arena in Vegas, gracing his first Pay per view against non other than Jared Gordon (19-5).

Gordon, 34, was initially slated to be Paddy’s opponent in March for UFC London, with Dana White stating in an interview with Barstool Sports that the pair would likely be matched up for said date. Of course, the UFC ended up going a different direction, pitting Paddy against Jordan Leavitt whom he went on to submit in the 2nd round in his native England.

It was initially thought Paddy’s next outing would be again, alongside his good friend Molly McCann who will compete against Erin Blanchfield at UFC 281 in New York, however, “The Baddy” brushed off these speculations citing the New York tax as a good enough reason to fight elsewhere.

Pimblett, 27, is 3-0 through his UFC run so far with all 3 victories coming by way of finish in the first two rounds. The scouser was called out by Jared Gordon prior to his victory over Leonardo Santos back in August, with Gordon stating he’d like to use the fight to raise awareness for mental health, a cause both men are passionate about.

Gordon has been in the UFC for 5 years now, making his debut with a TKO victory over Michel Quinones on the Kevin Lee x Michael Chiesa card back in 2017. Since joining the promotion, he has amassed a record of 7-4 with the UFC, just one of those seven being via finish which was his UFC debut. Gordon is 4-1 in his last 5 fights with his one loss being a third round submission at the hands of Grant Dawson back in April, his only other loss in the last 5 years was at the hands of lightweight king, Charles Oliveira.

This matchup is a visible step up in competition for “The Baddy”, with Gordon being the most experienced and well rounded opponent he will have faced thus far in the UFC.

The pair join a UFC 282 bill which will be topped by a light heavyweight title rematch between current champ Jiri Prochazka and the man he claimed it off in Glover Texieira.

Do you like this matchup for Paddy? Do you think he moves to 4-0 in the UFC or will Gordon stop him in his tracks?
