GLORY 84 | Champ vs. Champ This Saturday!
By
VM StaffGLORY 84 takes place this Saturday, March 11, and will be headlined by a Champion vs. Champion superfight as Tyjani Beztati (23-4, 8 KO) puts his GLORY lightweight championship on the line against featherweight king Petchpanomrung ‘Petch’ Kiatmookao (168-38-3, 27 KO).
Known as ‘The Wonderboy’, Beztati’s reign began at GLORY 78 with a unanimous decision win over Elvis Gashi and has since defended it twice, first against Josh Jauncey and, most recently, against Stoyan Koprivlenski.
However, in arguably his toughest challenge since becoming champion, Beztati will now defend his title against featherweight champion ‘Petch’. Also referred to as ‘The Professor’, the Thai fighter has been on an incredible run in his division, defending his featherweight crown four times and has earned victories over the likes of Robin van Roosmalen, Kevin VanNostrand, Serhii Adamchuk, and Abraham Vidales. Now he has his sights set on becoming GLORY Champ Champ.
The event will be co-headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Tarik Khbabez (47-10-1, 26 KO) and Spain’s Daniel Toledo (17-5). Khbabez fell just short of winning the light heavyweight title at GLORY: COLLISION 4, a battle which earned him and his opponent, Sergej Maslobojev, the ‘Fight of the Year’ for 2022. He looks to get back on track against a dangerous Toledo, who comes in on short notice and will be making his promotional debut.
Also on the card, a big welterweight clash between the Netherlands’ Jay Overmeer (28-4, 14 KO) and the UK’s Jamie Bates (27-7, 3 KO), perennial heavyweight contender Nordine Mahieddine (27-14, 12 KO) will move down to light heavyweight to face Felipe Micheletti (16-10, 5 KO), former middleweight title challenger Ertugrul Bayrak (17-9, 5 KO) will square-off against the unpredictable Michael Boapeah (13-3-1, 6 KO), and big Nabil Khachab (25-3-1, 4 KO) makes a quick turnaround to welcome France’s Sofian Laidouni (34-2-1, 17 KO) into the promotion.
The free GLORY 84 prelims will feature two exciting matchups as Chico Kwasi (36-4, 24 KO) and Stefan Orza (18-0, 8 KO) will meet each other in the welterweight division and giants David Tuitupou (9-0, 4 KO) and Strahinja Mitric (20-1, 13 KO) collide in a heavyweight contest.
GLORY 84 takes place Saturday, March 11 live from Topsportcentrum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and will be streamed live on Videoland in the Netherlands, on PPV around the world on GLORY Fights, and various broadcast partners around the world.
