Fightstar Championships 23 | Malik Basahel wins the FSC Flyweight belt in clinical performance!
By
VM StaffMalik Basahel has extended his brilliant amateur career with his first title since making his debut. Basahel has built a reputation as someone who only aims to fight the best after taking on the likes of Sheldon Ryan, Jimmy Saddique and now most recently a GB Top Team rising prospect seen as one of the best-surging amateurs in the weight class at this current time in Vadimas Gaizutis who was deserving of the praise and still is!
After coming off of a loss against Jimmy Saddique, Basahel never let it phase him and continued to work hard with the results now clearly paying off showing considerable improvement in every bout.
Basahel trains out of AVT Leeds, one of if not the best gym in Yorkshire and one of the most noticeable in the country with coaches such as Danny Mitchell, Jay Furness, Robbie Kennedy, Amy Derwanz and many more who’ve been able to not only coach but still compete at extremely high levels both regionally and internationally.
The gym had a busy weekend with fighters on One Championship, Fightstar Championships and Polaris.
What next for Malik Basahel?
With a win here and now being the defending champion, this looks like it could be the final year we see the rising star as an amateur. But there are still some very interesting matchups in the division and I’m sure whatever it is that comes next for Malik Basahel, he’ll remain ready!
