Three UFC main events announced by Dana White
By
VM StaffUFC president Dana White took to social media last night to announce three new main events for later this year.
The promotion’s return to Nashville, Tennessee, has been the subject of much speculation, but now, the main event is official. The card, which takes place on August 5th, will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between former title challenger Cory Sandhagen and undefeated prospect Umar Nurmagomedov. White stressed that “no one” wanted to fight Nurmagomedov, but Sandhagen stepped up to the plate.
Three weeks on, the UFC will make their return to Singapore. The event will be fronted by a five round featherweight bout between fan favourites. Former 145lb champion Max Holloway will return to take on veteran Chan Sung Jung on August 26th. ‘The Korean Zombie’ has been petitioning for this fight for some time and he is finally getting his wish.
The following day, the second season of Road to UFC will conclude with the tournament finals, also taking place in Singapore.
Finally, Paris will play host to their second UFC event on September 2nd. As expected, former interim heavyweight champion and hometown hero Ciryl Gane will be on the marquee. Standing in his way will be Moldova’s Serghei Spivac, who is riding a three-fight finish-streak coming into the bout.
The promotion is currently set to hold an event every weekend until UFC 293 on September 9th.
