Tawanchai vs. Superbon Rescheduled For ONE Fight Night 17
By
VM StaffFollowing the cancellation of their first meeting, the hugely anticipated clash between ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai and former featherweight kickboxing king Superbon Singha Mawynn has a new date.
The Thai superstars will lock up with Tawanchai’s Muay Thai crown on the line in the main event of ONE Fight Night 17 on Saturday, 9th December, inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The clash was originally booked to headline ONE Fight Night 15 on 7th October, but an injury to Superbon forced him to withdraw – much to the disappointment of the watching world.
Tawanchai wasn’t going to let his hard work go to waste, though. Instead, the featherweight Muay Thai king faced off with “Smokin” Jo Nattawut across three hard rounds of kickboxing, and he extended his ONE record to 7-1 with a unanimous decision win over his Thai compatriot.
The 24-year-old’s current form has placed him in God mode. He has scored five knockouts in his ONE tenure and toppled all comers since his last defeat over two years ago.
Striking stars like Davit Kiria, Jamal Yusupov, and Petchmorakot Petchyindee have all fallen to Tawanchai’s arsenal, but Superbon will look to utilize his veteran instincts against his fellow phenom.
A former ONE featherweight kickboxing titleholder, Superbon remains one of the most highly touted names in striking. His legendary skill set is renowned for ending contests in the blink of an eye, as was on show this past June at ONE Fight Night 11.
After losing his World Title to Chingiz Allazov in January, Superbon had a point to prove against Tayfun Ozcan. He dominated the Turkish star before landing a highlight-reel head kick in the second round that instantly turned his lights off.
The crucial KO win was a reminder that the legendary Thai should never be too far from the conversation about who the best pound-for-pound striker in the world is, and he’ll look to drive that point home by snatching Tawanchai’s Muay Thai gold away from him at ONE Fight Night 17.
