PFL 1 results: Collard scores upset, Loughnane KO’s Moraes
By
VM StaffAfter a year out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PFL returned last night with PFL 1, a stacked card which gave fans some shock upsets and a reason for the UK to celebrate.
In the main event of PFL 1 we saw former UFC alumni Anthony Pettis and Clay Collard face off in a striking spectacle, one Collard dominated, rocking Pettis several times through out and applying constant pressure throughout which was enough to earn the decision victory.
Another upset on the card included two time PFL featherweight champion Lance Palmer who was defeated for the first time in the PFL cage against college rival Bubba Jenkins. Jenkins holds a wrestling record of 3-1 in college over Palmer and it was this advantage that was key in his victory over the champion. Lance Palmer hadn’t lost a fight for over three years prior to the bout.
Only one finish was recorded in PFL’s season launch and it was delivered in spectacular fashion by UK MMA standout Brendan Loughnane! Brendan dominated the action from early, pressuring Moraes to the cage before delivering the final knockout blow. With the victory Loughnane now sits atop the Featherweight rankings with six points.
