Alessio Di Chirico vs Roman Dolidze Scratched due to Injury
By
VM StaffAfter slowing down the Joaquin Buckley hype train, the MMA world eagerly waits for the return of Alessio Di Chirico. Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait slightly longer than expected. Originally scheduled for June 5th, a bout against Roman Dolidze has been canceled after a “slight” injury.
It was announced earlier today on Di Chirico’s Instagram that he would not be able to compete on June 5th. Although the specifics are still not clear, Di Chirico has stated that the injury will take twenty days to heal. Di Chirico made it clear that he would not have pulled out of the fight if he had a choice.
We last saw Alessio Di Chirico when he won the $50k performance bonus at UFC ABC 1. Di Chirico won the performance bonus with an electrifying head kick KO against Joaquin Buckley. Not only did the finish have a beautiful setup, but Di Chirico also managed to do it in only two minutes and twelve seconds.
What’s Next for Di Chirico and Dolidze?
After getting the win against Buckley back in January, Alessio Di Chirico now finds himself with a UFC record of 4-5 and a pro-MMA record of 13-5. The 31-year old will look to ride the momentum into his next fight as he takes one step closer to being a ranked UFC middleweight.
Despite the minor setback from this injury, Alessio Di Chirico has also stated his new fight date will be August 7th against an unannounced opponent. According to Giorgi Kokiashvili, Doldidze is “looking for a fight and he’s ready for anyone”. With both fighters actively looking for a fight, we may just find them rescheduled.
