Raulian Paiva Forced to Hospital After Weight Cut Gone Wrong

One of the most brutal aspects of mixed martial arts is the weight cut. Fighters force themselves to lose large amounts of weight in a short amount of time. After officially weighing in, the fighters will then participate in rehydration programs to add the weight back before fight night. Unfortunately, weight cuts can be unbelievably dangerous when trying to cut too much weight or doing it the wrong way. We now find ourselves with the latest case of a scary weight cut as Raulian Paiva is forced to the hospital.

It was announced earlier today by Damon Martin that Raulian Paiva has been pulled from his bout against David Dvorak. Paiva was supposed to fight at UFC Vegas 27 this weekend, but a brutal weight cut has forced him to be sent to the hospital. Although the specifics of his injuries are still not clear, anyone that understands how to cut weight knows the pain his body is going through. All we can do at this point is wait for an update and pray that Paiva makes the fastest recovery possible.

The Show Must Go On Without Raulian Paiva

Despite the sudden change of events, the UFC always seems to have a plan. According to John Morgan, Juancamilo Ronderos will step in as a last-minute replacement to fight David Dvorak. Ronderos is 4-0 and looks to shock the MMA world with an upset over Dvorak in his UFC debut. The fight has been moved to the prelims but still has the potential to be an absolute banger.

Although it looks like the fight will go on without Raulian Paiva, that is simply not our main concern. Paiva is a 25-year old savage with the potential to do big things in the UFC. Seeing scary injuries like these is extremely eye-opening when they happen to some of the best athletes in the world. Hopefully, Paiva heals up as fast as possible so we can see him back in that octagon.
