Zabit Magomedsharipov’s Future in Doubt

UFC featherweight contender Zabit Magomedsharipov’s fighting career may be in jeopardy. Amidst an array of ongoing medical issues, his manager Rizvan Magomedov has shared details on the situation.

Speaking to reporter Igor Lazorin, Rizvan states “Zabit has health problems, and more specifically, with the immune system. He will not return to the Octagon until these problems are resolved. In the near future, Zabit must postpone surgery to resolve these problems. And then, it’ll be clear whether he will be able to continue his career”.

The always-exciting prospect lands a flush headkick on Kyle Bochniak, a fight which earned both men a FOTN bonus back in 2018.

After the Russian was removed from the UFC rankings a few weeks ago, rumours of his frustration regarding his inactivity began to surface. Almost 20 months since his last Octagon appearance, Zabit has reportedly contemplated retirement amidst his health struggles.

Sporting an 18-1 record, and earning 4 bonus in just 6 UFC fights, it would be a huge loss for the MMA community if retirement was the only option for the featherweight prospect. With many claiming his skill-set as champion-worthy, his potential remains limitless. A compete fighter in every aspect, we hope Zabit gets the medical attention he needs to recover from his ailments.
