Michael Bisping reveals Jake Paul offer

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has shared details on a past offer made to fight Jake Paul in a boxing match.

On his podcast Believe You Me, The Count stated “I was offered $500k to fight Jake Paul.” Announced just two days ago, a deal has been signed on both sides for Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul to clash later this summer. Bisping shared his thoughts on the news, when he said “He might go out there and might be getting $1 million. I couldn’t be happier for Tyron, he absolutely deserves it.”

After retiring from fighting in 2017, Bisping has quickly become a fan-favourite on the commentary desk.

Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul’s representative, confirmed the offer was made to fight Bisping. “Jake was absolutely interested in fighting Michael Bisping, and an offer was made by us. Unfortunately, we could not come to terms that made sense for the event at that time”.

Paul is now scheduled to face Woodley in late August in a bout that will take place at 190lbs. Woodley, who endured a 4-fight skid in his previous run, will look to correct this anomaly and return to winning ways against the Youtuber turned boxing sensation that is Jake Paul. After an altercation between Woodley and Jake‘s team in the wake of Triller’s April 17 event, tensions are sure to be high between the pair.

After a first round finish of former ONE welterweight champion Ben Askren, it’s hard to argue that Paul doesn’t possess the skills to hang with the best. However, long-time fans of the sport know how Woodley’s power can change the fight in an instant. This is undoubtedly a massive step-up in competition for the ambitious prize-fighter, a challenge he will surely fully commit himself to.
