History is made twice in one night as Combate Global success continues
By
VM StaffCombate Global is the powerhouse that just won’t stop. Once again, the Hispanic MMA promotion gets to inscribe it’s name in the history books as they make Florida-State and Univision history thanks to their recent 8-man, one night tournament.
With Florida never hosting a one night MMA tournament before, the hype surrounding the event was huge, especially seeing that one night tournaments have been so scarce within the sport of MMA in recent years. Many people might have viewed the tournament as a risky endeavour, but a risky endeavour that definitely payed off as a record breaking 533,000 people tuned in live on Univision and TUDN across the United States. This also included 253,000 in the A18-49 demographic.
Combate Global have been consistently dominating the Nielsen TV ratings as of late and it has to be put down to the innovative masterminds working behind the scenes. For a promotion that receives little to no coverage from the major media outlets, Combate are doing a phenomenal job of retaining and expanding their viewership, especially within the female A18-49 demographic.
David ”Black Spartan” Martinez (6-1) was the victor of the historic tournament, defeating Alex “Coyote” Gonzalez and Alan “Beche” Cantu before head kicking his way to victory against UFC veteran Francisco Rivera Jr. You can catch all the highlights from David Martinez career defining run here.
