Nate Diaz calls out Dustin Poirier… at 185lbs?

Nate Diaz has made his presence clear following Dustin Poirier’s victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 264, the question on everyone’s minds was what’s next for the lightweight contender.

Whilst it seemed obvious that Poirier was in the title picture and next to face Charles Oliveira for the 155lb title, a certain Stockton Native has other ideas. In a surprise tweet Friday, Nate Diaz posted a picture of him and Dustin Poirier with the caption ”185lbs, Pull-up” which prompted Poirier to respond.

Nate Diaz, who recently lost a 5 round decision to British welterweight Leon Edwards, looks to be eyeing up a fight at 185 pounds, and his eyes seem to be locked on Poirier to make the jump up.

This would mean a jump of 30 pounds for Poirier, and is unlikely to be such a fight to entice him at this point, Despite having previously been booked to fight the younger Diaz brother at UFC 230 in November of 2018. Both men’s careers have taken different paths since this fight fell through, however there is no denying that it would be an exciting fight to watch, albeit futile in what the bout would achieve for either man, as neither are natural 185-pounders.
