Cody Garbrandt on a TJ Dillashaw rematch ‘Let’s run it!’

The two former teammates have gotten into it in the past. TJ was a guest coach on Faber’s team on The Ultimate Fighter, and so was Cody Garbrandt. Opposing coach, Conor McGregor (he predicted deez tings) saw Dillashaw’s split with Team Alpha Male coming a mile away and started speaking in memes “a little snake in the grass” and a now famous scuffle between Garbrandt and McGregor broke out. Dillashaw did end up going to train with Dwayne Ludwig full time in Colorado and left his former teammates behind.

Dillashaw would eventually lose his belt to Dominick Cruz who would then lose the belt to Cody Garbrandt in one of the best performances of all time. The two would eventually coach opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter 25 with a hotly contested game of tether ball for the ages, and of course a less important title fight at the end.

The two fought and the fancy Cody Garbrandt that styled on Domickick Cruz dissapeared like D.B Cooper. Both men exchanged blows like rock ’em sock ’em robots until Dillashaw won. They fought again in 2018 and TJ finished the fight in the first round.

Dillashaw dropped a weight class to challenge Henry Cejudo but was finished in the first round. He tested positive for EPO and was handed a two year suspension.

Cody Garbrandt has fought that entire time with mixed results. He lost his next fight against Pedro Munhoz in a similar fashion to the first TJ fight, by exchanging right hands with his opponent until he was knocked out. He came back after that with a knockout of the year contender when he flatlined Raphael Assuncao then lost a lopsided decision to Rob Font.

Dillashaw edged Cory Sandhagen in a split decision but many fans and Garbrandt himself are unconvinced:

Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling 2 is on the books, so does TJ sit and wait for a title shot or does he get in there with a man he finished twice for a massive payday. Cody Garbrandt has put it best himself:
