Jiri Prochazka serves as backup for Jan Blachowicz vs Glover Teixera
By
VM StaffIt has been confirmed that #2 ranked light heavyweight Jiri Prochazka will serve as the backup fighter for the upcoming title bout between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixera.
This means Prochazka will be expected to travel to the event, make championship weight and be ready to step in if either main event fighter is forced to withdraw for any reason. UFC 267 is expected to take place October 30 at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
Jiri Prochazka joined the UFC back in July 2020 and made an instant impact in the light heavyweight division. Scoring back-to-back highlight reel knockouts over former title challengers Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes. The latter even resulted in the Champ, Jan Blachowicz calling Prochazka out. The 28 year old has now racked up twelve consecutive wins with eleven coming by way of KO/TKO.
Now serving as the backup for UFC 267 it seems more than likely the Czech born mixed martial artist will be the next in line for a title shot. Though the UFC or Dana White haven’t confirmed this, his position in the rankings, recent performances and following with the fans should ensure we see this fight relatively soon.
