Magomed Ankalaev vs. Volkan Oezdemir announced for UFC 267

In a light-heavyweight bout not to be missed, it has been announced this week that Magomed Ankalaev will face off against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 267. The Russian Sambo Master will meet the Swiss kickboxer on October 30th in a bid to each crack the top 10 ranking for the division.

The match-up is highly anticipated, and eyes will certainly be on Ankalaev (15-1) who, after losing his UFC debut in dramatic fashion back in 2018 via a last second submission to Paul Craig; has chained together some impressive victories including finishes of Ion Cutelaba, Dalcha Lungiambula, and Marcin Prachnio, and an impressive unanimous decision in his most recent battle with Nikita Krylov in February.

On the other hand, Oezdemir (17-5) is not to be counted out either after falling just short, whilst taking the fight to Daniel Cormier in a bid to capture the UFC Light-Heavyweight title at UFC 220 back in January. Whilst the latter is coming off a second round knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka in July 2020, this has served to feed Oezdemir’s focus and determination to put an end to what some could view as a poor run of form.

Whilst the title fights of this event are the main focus of the card; with Jan Blachowicz defending his Light-Heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira, and Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling once again squaring off against Petr Yan in the co-main event, the bout between Ankalaev and Oezdemir is one not to be missed.

Who will your money be on? One to watch Magomed Ankalaev, or hungry contender Volkan Oezdemir?
