Sumo: Kyushu Tournament Day 2
By
VM StaffOn to day 2 of the Kyushu Tournament and another day of great Sumo action took place.
Day 2 saw another hard-fought battle for Terunofuji as he managed in the end to hold off a charge from Daieisho. Daieisho defeated Terunofuji in the last tournament and was extremely close to adding another win against a Yokozuna to his record.
Endo won an impressive victory against Myogiryu with a superb tsukiotoshi finish.
There was some controversy as a victory for Tamawashi over Hoshoryu seemed to be judged wrongly, have a look for yourself, who do you think won this bout?
Takayasu had an epic long bout against Takarafuji which was back and forth the whole way before an extremely impressive shitatedashinage move to finish the fight.
Today also saw the first instance this tournament of a wrestler from the division below coming in to make up the numbers as second division (Juryo) rikishi Tsurugisho was defeated by Shohozan. This often happens in sumo when there are odd numbers in any given division.
Abi continued his fine form since suspension with another impressive win, this time with a tsukidashi against Chiyonokuni.
There were also wins for both Ozeki, Shodai and Takakeisho and fan-favourites Ura and Tobizaru.
