By
VM StaffUndefeated Japanese flyweight stud Tatsuro Taira has signed with the UFC. The news was announced late Friday afternoon on social media by Taira’s management, Iridium Sports Agency.
Hailing from Okinawa Japan, Taira is just 22-years-old and has a long and prosperous future ahead of him. “Supernova” boasts a spotless 10-0 record and already holds championship gold in Shooto, where he is the current flyweight champion. Taira is lethal on the ground with both submission prowess and devastating ground n’ pound. In fact, all of Taira’s eight finishes have come on the mat with six submissions (with a variety of chokes) and two GNP KO/TKO’s.
The UFC has been active in adding new talent to the men’s 125-pound division with signings like Manel Kape, Jake Hadley, Muhammad Mokaev, and now – Tatsuro Taira. Taira’s youth, finishing ability on the ground, and championship pedigree is sure to make for some exciting matchups… and we won’t have to wait long to find out who he’s matched up against as per MMA Junkie, his debut will be announced in the coming days.
