Former Cage Warriors Flyweight Weslley Maia calls for fight with Lewis McGrillen

This weekend, former Cage Warriors Flyweight, Weslley Maia has called for a fight with blue chip prospect, Lewis McGrillen, following yet another KO win for the Manchester native.

McGrillen scored yet another first round knockout at Vida Fighting Championships 3 on Saturday, starching Martin Fouda with his signature left hook. Fouda stepped in on 9 days notice as McGrillen’s original opponent, Ronny Gomez pulled out of the bout.

A man that was keeping a close eye on the bout is former Cage Warriors Flyweight, Weslley Maia. The Brazilian has not long left the European promotion after he claimed he was struggling to find a suitor to meet him inside the cage. The now free agent made it clear that he wants to be next to fight McGrillen, hoping to be the one to put a stop to the 21-year-olds upward trajectory.

After his extremely impressive victory, McGrillen took to Instagram to thank his plethora of fans, also stating that he is number 1 on the regional circuit, daring anyone to prove him otherwise.

“I am number 1 on the regional circuit and I dare you all to prove me wrong. If not @UFC maybe it’s time? Who knows only time will tell for me.” McGrillen said.

“Magic” Maia though has other plans for McGrillen, and has in fact dared to prove the 21-year-old wrong by offering to fight him at FCC (Full Contact Contender) in September. Maia commented: “I can prove you wrong. Me and you September 10th at FCC what you saying?”.
