UFC Flyweight Jeff Molina Suspended Due To Investigation Into Betting Scandal

This Tuesday, Jeff Molina has been suspended by the UFC amid an investigation into a betting scandal involving coach James Krause.

Krause coached Darrick Minner at UFC Vegas 64 heading into his fight against Sahyilan Nuerdanbieke when unexpectedly, in the hours leading up to the event Minner suddenly became the underdog as betting lines shifted. Minner lost the fight in the first round, due to a leg injury early on and then was TKO’d. This created a lot of suspicion circling the sudden change in betting.

Since then, Minner later revealed that he has had the injury since November 5. Minner and Krause were then later temporarily banned by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). Minner was then released by the UFC for failing to disclose an injury. 25 year-old Jeff Molina, who is a very exciting flyweight prospect was handed a temporary suspension by the NAC for suspicion of having “substantial” involvement in the betting scandal that allegedly involved Krause, in late December.

Due to the circling suspicion a notice was issued by the UFC that anyone who trained under Krause at Glory MMA and Fitness Gym would not be able to compete. Brandon Moreno was amongst some of the fighters who needed to find a new gym ahead of his flyweight bout this weekend at UFC 283.

The investigation rocked the sport as the FBI now are getting involved with the suspected scandal. Molina was expected to fight Jimmy Flick at UFC Vegas 67 this past weekend but was forced to pull out of the bout due to the allegations.

Krause and Molina will be under investigation until the right authorities believe that it has come to an end and find the allegations either to be true or false.
