CW 151 | Will Currie vs Mick Stanton Bout Set For Middleweight Title

A huge middleweight championship bout pitting top prospect Will Currie against former title challenger Mick Stanton has been confirmed for CW 151: Unplugged

The pair will contest the title (vacated by recent UFC signee Christian Leroy Duncan) at the BT Sport Studios on Friday, March 24th.

London’s Will Currie (9-2) has been on a tear in the CW middleweight division of late, winning four straight in the famous yellow gloves, with only one of those coming by way of decision.

He last saw action at the previous edition of CW: Unplugged, weathering an early storm to stop the hard-hitting Michael Tchamou.

Stanton returns to CW for the first time since his unanimous decision victory over UFC veteran Darren Stewart at CW 141 in July 2022.

‘The Huyton Hammer’ is undefeated in his last three contests with the promotion, previously stopping George Smith and Alex Fontes via second-round ground & pound.

“With Christian Leroy Duncan becoming the latest Cage Warriors athlete signed to the UFC, it’s time to crown a new champion…” said CW President Graham Boylan.

“Will Currie is one of Europe’s top middleweight prospects; he’s been the distance with the former champ, so he knows what it means to be championship caliber.”

“Mick Stanton also has a wealth of big-fight experience; combined with his heavy hands and high-level wrestling, he can pose serious problems for any 185lb’er in Europe.”

“I’m expecting five rounds of fireworks at the BT Sports Studios on March 24th!”

The middleweight title bout joins a trio of confirmed contests for the fifth edition of CW: Unplugged.

In featherweight action, CW veteran Steve Aimable welcomes Brazil’s Alberth Dias to the promotion.

Also, in a pair of middleweight bouts, Guilherme ‘Warrior’ Cadena faces former champion Matt ‘The Beast’ Bonner, while Michael ‘Jaguar’ Tchamou looks to bounce back against Naglis ‘The Smiling Boy’ Kanišauskas.

Further bouts for the invitation only event – which will air live on UFC Fight Pass – are expected in the coming weeks.
