The bout is expected to be rescheduled for the March 11th Fight Night, headlined by bantamweight contenders, Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili. Aside from the intriguing main event, it’s a card that will benefit from the addition of Krylov and Spann, which could take the co-main slot from the all Alexander affair between heavyweights Volkov and Romanov.
If the rumours are to be believed, Krylov vs Spann will now be just three rounds, as opposed to the five-round bout they were supposed to have last weekend.
The light heavyweight contest was a sad omission from UFC Fight Night 220 which was instead headlined by Andre Muniz and Brendan Allen after Krylov fell ill just hours before the cage door was supposed to be shut.
Krylov will hopefully not be too affected in his preparation, coming into the bout on the back of consecutive wins against Alexander Gustafsson and Volkan Oezdemir. His opponent is also on a two-fight win streak, after first round finishes against both Ion Cutelaba and Dominick Reyes.
So Fight Night 220’s loss is Fight Night 221’s gain, and the light heavyweight match-up will hopefully deliver a fight worth waiting for.
