EXCLUSIVE | Brian Moore calls for a Dublin main event with Leandro Higo

After his win at Bellator 291, Brian Moore was critical of himself. He felt that his performance didn’t live up to his ability, but knew that it was a stepping stone to getting what he ultimately wanted.

That want, of course, is a shot against the best in Bellator’s bantamweight division. Moore, who is now riding a back-to-back victories, has been competing in the promotion for just over six years. His twelve Bellator appearances make him one of the most experienced Irish fighters on the world stage, and he feels it’s about time that he got the recognition he has fought so hard for.

“Main event, co-main event; that’s what I feel like I deserve,” said Moore. “That’s what the crowd deserves. This place [3Arena] erupts when I walk out, but tonight [Bellator 291], I was so low on the card and the place was still filling. That song, ‘Fields of Athenry’, and my performances deserve more than that, I feel.”

Moore has petitioned for a fight with Leandro Higo, Bellator’s #7 ranked bantamweight, for some time now. Higo was originally slated to face James Gallagher, but the fight fell through, leaving Higo’s schedule free. Moore admitted that making a turnaround for March wasn’t likely, but the Wexford native did like the idea of he and Higo throwing down in Dublin.

You know, I’m so invested these cards – these Dublin cards – because these are my people and I want to give them a good fight. I think the Higo fight makes sense, or anyone in the top ten.”
