ONE Fight Night 8 | Superlek vs. Rodtang Preview
By
VM StaffIn the world of striking, there may be no better matchup scheduled than the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title showdown between divisional king Superlek Kitamoo9 and reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who are set to collide in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on Saturday, 25th March, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
What makes this battle so intriguing is the stature, skill, and glory both strikers bring to the Circle. Both champions are ready and willing to put their legacy on the line, and this could lead to the most dynamic display of kickboxing this year.
The bout will be Superlek’s first World Title defence, and it will be a quick turnaround for him, given that he only captured the vacant crown in January after a year-long pursuit of the coveted title.
“The Kicking Machine” outworked Daniel Puertas over the course of five rounds at ONE Fight Night 6 to state his claim as the best flyweight kickboxer in the world.
The win took him to three straight victories inside the Circle and fueled debate about whether anyone could beat him. But one man was watching closely, ready to throw his name into that conversation as soon as possible.
That man was Rodtang.
Already a dominant force in ONE Championship, “The Iron Man” has been hungry for a second belt since earning his first against Jonathan “The General” Haggerty at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES in August 2019.
Rodtang has put together a perfect 13-0 run in ONE’s striking ranks, and he will look to cement himself as the most dangerous striker in the game when he meets Superlek later this month.
The meeting between the two superstars has attracted the attention of combat sports fans the world over. It’ll be a fight for all the marbles and may kick-start a fascinating rivalry that could span multiple fights across two disciplines.
