Henry Cejudo injures shoulder, out of UFC 292
By
VM StaffFormer UFC flyweight and bantamweight Henry Cejudo was set to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 292, but that is now off the cards. The Olympic gold medalist announced last night that he had suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks. This forced him to pull out of his upcoming bout with Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, which was scheduled for August 19th.
Cejudo previously dealt with an injured shoulder during his reign as champion, being sidelined for almost a year due to surgery. On his Instagram, he addressed the situation. “Unfortunately due to my right shoulder, I won’t be able to fight, Guys, I’ve already torn my left shoulder, where I was out for about a year. I don’t want it to tear further than what it already is,” he said. “There’s a tear in there, guys. The cat’s out of the bag. It’s actually a 50 percent tear.”
No word has yet been given by the UFC in regards to a replacement for Vera and it is unknown if the fight will be scrapped or rebooked.
Cejudo last fought in May, losing a narrow split decision in comeback fight against champion Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288.
