UAE Warriors 45 Results: Amru Magomedov wins Vacant Title

UAE Warriors 45 took place Tuesday evening, October 17, live from the Al Jazira Club and the event helped to kick-off Abu Dhabi Showdown Week 2023, one of the biggest weeks on the MMA calendar.

Team Nurmagomedov’s rising star Amru Magomedov (7-0) captured the vacant UAE Warriors lightweight title in the main event with a flawless first round submission win over Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Jumaev (10-3).

‘Prince’ Rany Saadeh (13-4) scored an emphatic submission victory over the the Philippines’ Genil Francisco (13-8) right at the end of the second round. This bout became the new co-main event after Raulian Paiva missed weight for his scheduled fight against Timur Valiev. As a result of the missed weight, the fight was cancelled on safety grounds by UAE Warriors officials.

Itay’s Walter Cogliandro (14-4-1) scored a massive upset win over UAE Warriors champ champ Ali AlQaisi (15-7) stopping him with punches in the first round. The bout was a non-title fight but the Italian has made a statement and could be challenging for the title next.

Elsewhere on the card, Russia’s Renat Khavalov (8-0) defeated ONE & RIZIN veteran Hikaru Yoshino (12-4), Brazil’s Victor Nunes (10-6) scored a walk-off KO win over Jordan’s Nawras Abzakh (11-5), RIZIN vet Yamato Fujita (11-4) won his second straight fight in UAE Warriors with a submission win over Sanzhar Adilov (11-2), and Kyrgyzstan’s Razhabali Shaydullaev (10-0) remained undefeated with a huge win over Russia’s Magomed Al-Abdullah (12-2).

Showdown Week will by headlined by UFC 294 this Saturday, October 21, live from the Etihad Arena and will feature superstars Islam Makhachev, Alex Volkanovski, Khamzat Chimaev, Kamaru Usman, and many others.
