“This Is Going To Be A Finish” – Lito Adiwang Out For Redemption Against Jeremy Miado At ONE Fight Night 16
By
VM StaffWhen Lito Adiwang collided with Jeremy Miado in March 2022, he never would have imagined he’d be on the sideline for 18 months when the dust had settled.
After a long recovery and a perfect return to action via a 23-second knockout of Adrian Mattheis last month, Adiwang is ready for some redemption against his Filipino compatriot at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade, on Saturday, 4th November, in Bangkok, Thailand.
“Thunder Kid” suffered a torn ACL due to a misplaced step in the second frame of their first meeting at ONE X, forcing him to pull out of the bout. Miado was handed the TKO win as a result, and fans were left with many questions about how the entertaining battle would have ended had it continued.
Adiwang had many thoughts surrounding his performance against “The Jaguar,” too, and he wants to get answers in the rematch.
“Once and for all, we’re going to be facing each other again. I know fans are excited. I’m excited as well. I’m just praying that we get to show what we’re capable of without injuries, so that we can reach the expectations of the fans and satisfy our expectations within ourselves as well,” Adiwang said.
“There are a lot of what-ifs from that fight, and I don’t like that.”
After a year and a half of rehab on his injured leg, Adiwang’s return this past September at ONE Friday Fights 34 last month was better than he ever could have dreamed. He ran through ONE veteran Mattheis in just 23 seconds to score a knockout win and remind the world of who he is.
Leaving the Lumpinee ring unscathed allowed him to immediately start plotting his next move, and Miado was the first thought in the ONE matchmakers’ mind.
When Adiwang meets “The Jaguar” next week, he’ll have a shot at redemption and a chance to score back-to-back finishes for the first time in three years – and he’s got a plan in mind for achieving both goals.
“I believe that this fight will eventually reach the ground, regardless of how it gets there. I see this fight becoming a ground battle. Maybe I can control him there, then submit him. That’s how I see this fight happening,” he said.
“This is going to be a finish, whether it be a knockout or submission by yours truly, the ‘Thunder Kid.’”
