ONE Fight Night 18 Full Card Announced

ONE Championship kicks off its 2024 campaign with ONE Fight Night 18: Gasanov vs. Oh on Saturday, 13th January, and the thrilling event will make history as the first-ever ONE Championship show broadcast in the UK on Sky Sports at 1am GMT.

Following the cancellation of the evening’s previous headliner between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Elias Mahmoudi, featherweight MMA standouts Shamil Gasanov and Oh Ho Taek have stepped in for main event duties.

And with both men itching to move closer to a shot at the divisional crown, fans can bet their showdown will be electric.

Gasanov rolled into the world’s largest martial arts organization as an unbeaten star, and he added Kim Jae Woong to his 12-0 slate in his promotional debut in October 2022.

That win set the Russian up for a date with #1-ranked featherweight MMA contender Garry Tonon at ONE Fight Night 12 last July. Unfortunately, the American grappling legend proved too much for him on that occasion, and he secured a submission win in the second round.

Thus, Gasanov will be looking to return to the winner’s column this Saturday in the hopes of getting a second meeting with “The Lion Killer.” But Oh will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.

The South Korean star’s career has followed a similar trajectory to Gasanov. He defeated Japanese veteran Ryogo Takahashi in his debut at ONE on Prime Video 2 in October 2022, but his momentum was stopped at the hands of Akbar Abdullaev last March at ONE Fight Night 8.

With both scrappers on common ground, it’ll be interesting to see who wants it more in the main event of ONE Fight Night 18.

The co-main event will see Suablack Tor Pran49 returning to action just weeks after his phenomenal showing against Craig Coakley at ONE Friday Fights 46.

The Thai star stopped his Irish foe in the first round to earn a lucrative six-figure contract with ONE, and having been left relatively unscathed, he’ll now look to knock off Coakley’s teammate Stefan Korodi in a bantamweight Muay Thai battle.

Elsewhere, Britain’s sole representative, “Lethal” Liam Nolan, is set makes his long-awaited return to the ring when he takes on Ali Aliev in lightweight Muay Thai.

Nolan is one of the division’s deadliest strikers, but his 2023 was ruined by misfortune.

Injury struck first, and then when he was scheduled to return against former two-time ONE World Title challenger Sinsamut Klinmee this past November, illness ruled him out just days prior.

With a fresh slate and plenty of drive behind him, Nolan is on a mission to make a statement at ONE Fight Night 18, and victory over promotional newcomer in Aliev could see him earn his first ONE World Title opportunity.
